Graça is the highest point in Lisbon, located on top of the highest hill. It boasts some of the most spectacular views of Lisbon. This is the type of area where the locals drink their coffee on the streets, store owners chat with passers-by while standing outside their shops, and rent prices are relatively low attracting young people.
The fact that Graça is the highest point makes it the place to get the best viewpoints of the downtown city. The most famous viewpoint is the Miradouro de Santa Graca which gives a good view of central Lisbon and the northern castle. This place is also very good to enjoy the sunset, sipping coffee from the open-air café. There is also the Miradouro da Senhora do Monte viewpoint which is less crowded but a better view of the city. Some meters from the viewpoint is the Igreja de Graça, one of the oldest churches in Lisbon, now used as a military barracks. There are various ways to get to Graça. You can walk uphill from downtown Baixa or use Tram 28, which usually have long queues, but walking is better since you get to see a lot along the way.
