One of the architectural landmarks at the Plaza de Armas is the Santiago Metropolitan Cathedral. Located in the northwest corner of the square, the Cathedral is the first religious temple that was set in the city in 1952.
The cathedral is both the headquarters of the archbishop of Santiago and also the main temple of the Catholic Church in Chile. Admire the magnificent interior of the cathedral, with its crypt and three naves in addition to the chapel and alters. The crypt houses the remains of arzopispos and bishops of Chile.
Visit the holy sacrament chapel which is similar to the Saint John’s chapel in Rome. View the High Altar, in white marble with bronze and lazuli. The floor is made up of thousands of tiny tiles that make a beautiful black and white pattern. View the beautifully handcrafted mahogany seats.
To get to the Santiago Metropolitan Cathedral use the metro stations that stop at the Plaza de Armas. There is the Santiago metro underground. Also, many buses offer Santiago city tour and other public buses and cars are available. If visiting from outside Santiago many airports are around and almost all of them are less than 15 minutes’ drive to the cathedral.
With its central location and on the Plaza de Armas territory, gyms around the Catedral and Plaza de Armas, in general, are many and they have great facilities. Searching the TrainAway App for gyms gives you information about the best gyms and their membership plans. Among the best gyms is the Sportlife – Purísima that has the very best of machines and equipment.
The reception is great and the experience is memorable. The TrainAway program gives you a day pass benefit for your training to Sportlife – Purísima gym when visiting the Catedral Metropolitana. TrainAway has the best support for clients on matters to do with fitness.
