The Vancouver Convention Center is one of the largest convention centers in Canada, located in the Coal Harbour neighbourhood in Downtown Vancouver. It opened its gates in 1987 with the aim of generating economic and community benefits for British Columbia. Each year, the center hosts more than 500 events and welcomes hundreds of thousands of attendees. The center consists of two different buildings which are within a short walking distance of each other. The harbourfront location offers a breathtaking view for both of the buildings. The East Building is located in Canada Place and served as the main press conference center for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. The West Building, the bigger building of the two, opened in 2009 and it trippled the capacity of the convention center. Right next to the building you’ll find the Jack Poole Plaza, a large, open-air plaza which is home to the 2010 Winter Olympic Cauldron, the Digital Orca sculpture, and events throughout the year such as the Canada Day Celebrations, Christmas Market, and New Year’s Eve celebrations.
From the Convention Center it’s very easy to reach the Stanley Park or the West End or Gastown neighbourhoods, all of which offer plenty to explore.
The number of gyms offering a wide variety of fitness facilities and classes and the number of signed up members in Vancouver are both increasing in recent years. Due to that, travelers can easily find gyms in Vancouver offering flexible entry solutions such as day passes or one-off workouts. With the TrainAway app you can search for and get access to such gyms without any hassle. An amazing gym we recommend nearby the Vancouver Convenetion Center is Club16 Trevor Linden Fitness – Downtown Vancouver, located by the waterfront, looking at North Vancouver across the Vancouver Harbour.
