Dublin Caste is in the heart of historical Dublin and the city in fact got its name from the Black Pool – ‘Dubh Linn’ which was on the site of the present Castle garden. In the place of a former Viking settlement the construction of the fortress started in 1204 and was finished in 1230. Throughout its history the castle mostly served as the headquarters of English, and later British, administration in Ireland. In 1922, following Ireland’s independence, the castle was handed over to the new Irish government and is still a major government complex, partially opened to tourists.
As the Dublin Castle is absoutely centrally located, so there are plenty of other attractions and sites to explore nearby: the Temple Bar area and River Liffey, the Guinness Storehouse, Chirst Church Cathedral, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, St. Stephen’s Green and Trinity College, just to name a few.
Gym members in Ireland can enjoy their workouts in high-quality gyms which offer a great mix of free weights, cardio machines and group classes. According to a recent study, there is plenty of them as 12.2% of the population is a regular visitor in gyms and fitness centers.
