The World Trade Center was opened in 1973 as a large 7-building complex in Manhattan’s financial district, and included the Twin Towers, where the unfortunate 9/11 events took place. In the past, it attracted nearly 200,000 daily visitors and provided jobs for 50 000 workers. It was raised up from the ashes in 2014, when six new skyscrapers were completed, as well as a memorial and museum dedicated to those who were killed in the attack. Visit the memorial to pay your respects to the ones we’ve lost, then continue to explore the new complex that promises a better future.
The main building of the modern World Trade Center is the One World Observatory, the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere that allows you to see the New York streets from above on the Sky Portal, a glass disc located on the 100th floor of the building. In the building you can also join one of the guided tours that will educate you on the history and the present of WTC and New York City. Complete your visit in ONE Dine, an upscale restaurant that allows you to eat authentic New York dishes while enjoying stunning views on the city and the Hudson River.
The World Trade Center is located in the Tribeca neighborhood of Lower Manhattan. There are plenty of gyms nearby, including those accessible with day passes by TrainAway.
