Located in the northern part of Vilnius, Fabijoniškės is one of the newest parts of the city, that was mainly developed between the 1980’s and the 1990’s. The district wasn’t one of the popular spots for tourists until it was used as a set for the HBO miniseries Chernobyl.
The area was chosen for the series, as it showcases Soviet brutalist architecture. Mainly large grey residential buildings are found in the streets, such as Fabijoniškės and S. Stanevičiaus. While in the area, you can also enjoy an urban hike on the Šeškinė walking route or visit the nearby park Verkiai Regional Park.
Once you’ve explored the gloomy yet intricate Soviet architecture of the area, you can finish the day by doing a workout in one of the gyms near Fabijoniškės. A popular option for those who are looking for a gym with guest pass is MyFitness Kalvarijų. There you can find an impressive range of equipment for strength, functional or cardio training.
After visiting one of the gyms in Vilnius you’re bound to get hungry – so it’s time to try out some dishes in Fabijoniškės restaurants. Although the area is not as packed with eateries as the city center, you can still find some cool spots, like the Lithuanian Agotos gryčia and Pan-Asian Pekino svetainė.
