Although it formerly had a reputation of the city’s poorest and crime-packed neighborhood, District 8 has now developed into one of the coolest areas in Budapest. In the heart of the district, you can find the stunning Palace Neighborhood, where the rich residents built more than 30 mansions and palaces in the late 19th century. In this quarter you can also visit the Hungarian National Museum, which was built in 1847 and was the place where the 1848 Hungarian Revolution officially began.
Near the museum you can grab a drink in one of the artsy bars such as the popular Csendes and the Építész Pince. District 8 is also known as one of the most diverse neighborhoods of Budapest, arguably because it has; the Chinese Four Tigers Market, lots of Pakistani and African shops, the Teleki Square.
If you’re looking for well equipped yet cheap gyms in Budapest, you will enjoy the options around the District 8. Bliss & Body Fitness and Wellness is a great choice for travelers, as it combines a central location, with versatile equipment and services that cater to all your exercise and wellness needs.
District 8 is known for its unique bars and restaurants, that are housed in old buildings yet offer modern cuisine. A great example is Csiga, where you can get a breakfast or lunch and Macska where you can enjoy a great vegetarian dish. An awesome choice for dinner would be the Kék Ló, where you can catch one of their regular music nights.
