Orange County’s county seat, one of the most densely populated cities in the US as well as its fourth safest city according to Forbes, Santa Ana has a lot to offer to tourists. It was founded by a Spanish sergeant Jose Antonio Yorba, and is now home to a large Latino community.

Santa Ana’s rich culture can be seen in its countless museums, including it’s most important landmark The Bowers Museum that features invaluable collections from Asia, Africa, and South Pacific. If modern art is more your thing, you shouldn’t miss The Discovery Cube, an interactive science center divided in several sections that will spark the curiosity of both you and your kids. The Santa Ana Zoo is another family friendly location and so is the Sender One climbing center.

Old Orange County Courthouse is one of the oldest buildings in the city, as well as a popular filming set, most notably in American Horror Story: Asylum. Besides for its culture, Santa Ana is popular for it’s versatile and incredibly delicious dining spots.

You can find many of them on the East End Promenade, that also features unique boutiques and live events in the Yost Theater. Another alternative for foodies is the 4th Street Market, the always-alive outdoor space covering 30,000 square feet and offering everything from European desserts, over Thai noodles to authentic Mexican tortillas.
