Moved to Ireland on a working visa and couldn’t sign up in most Dublin fitness clubs because of my residency. Thankfully, TrainAway lets me get access to many of the best Dublin gyms.

St. Patrick's Cathedral

Saint Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin (Irish: Ard-Eaglais Naomh Pádraig) was founded in 1220 and the construction was finished in 1259. It is the National Cathedral of the Church of Ireland. The cathedral was built on the holy site where Saint Patrick baptised Christian converts nearly 1500 years ago and it has survived wars, revolutions and the reformation since then. The largest scale restoration happened in the 19th century, when Benjamin Lee Guinness, the grandson of the brewery founder Arthur Guinness offered his help and paid nearly 150 000 pounds for the full restoration of the cathedral, saving it from near certain ruin.
The most famous Dean to serve at the cathedral was Jonathan Swift, the author of Gulliver’s Travels and many other works. Amongst many others, he was buried in the cathedral. Saint Patrick’s Cathedral Choir School was founded in 1432 and it has an almost continuous history since its foundation.
Nearby attractions include Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin Castle, St. Stephen’s Green, Trinity College and Guinness Storehouse.
