Like many of the boroughs in the southern part of Montreal, Sud-Ouest also borders the St. Lawrence River to the east. Sud-Ouest is historically known for being home to working class households but is still to today known for its cheap rent compared to some of the bordering boroughs.

Sud-Ouest offers a few museums for the culture interested where the Maison Saint-Gabriel is one of the best known. It exhibits old architecture from the New France period. Two of the best restaurants in the Sud-Ouest borough are the Tandem Restaurant offering local and French cuisine and the Damas Restaurant offering Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine.
It is very easy to commute from Sud-Ouest to the other boroughs and downtown Montreal. There are 10 metro stations in Sud-Ouest and it only takes 10 minutes to Downtown Montreal.
