Kings Cross Station Sydney
King’s Cross Station is located in the King Cross suburb, a bohemian hub of the city and it’s red light district. It’s one of the largest railway projects done after World War II and is especially interesting for it’s design features listed as NSW Railway heritage sites. Those include furniture, clocks, signs and other memorabilia. At the station, you will pass thousands of other travelers, as it’s the busiest station in Australia, connecting both major Sydney suburbs and other destinations in the country.
Right as you exit the station, you will see a large Coca-Cola billboard, that’s one of the major landmarks in the King Cross suburb. Although it was known as the city’s crime zone in the past, it has developed into a residential area and has more to offer than only sketchy corners, brothels or strip clubs. Besides the Coca Cola sign, the other most recognizable landmark of the suburb is El Alamein Fountain, built to commemorate soldiers who died in Egypt during World War II. And although it’s not as sketchy as it was in the past, Kings Cross still becomes truly alive in the evening. Enjoy a drink at one of their bars or catch a performance in one of the old theatres that stood the test of time, such as The Griffin Theatre Co. and Kings Cross Theatre.
